For more than two centuries Americans have been fascinated with the election of the President of the United States. The issues, parties, primaries, campaigns, debates, conventions, Election Day, and recently, protests, are all fundamental component parts of this quadrennial exercise. Special Collections & Archives has drawn together pieces of political Americana from its holdings to present examples of electoral (traditions?) of the 19th and 20th Centuries. Items in this exhibit come from the American Political Items Collectors, Harold J. Morowitz, League of Women Voters of the Fairfax Area, Oliver Atkins Photograph, and other collections. The exhibit was conceived during the summer of 2008 in anticipation of, and to run concurrently with, the 2008 Presidential Election.
